Media work.. Magazine Rationale

By Rachel Lock
My target audience is for girls and boys in 6th form. I have chosen to appeal to both boys and girls because we are a community and we shouldn’t have a magazine just for girls or just for boys. Having my magazine for girls and boys will make my magazine more interesting and it will have a lot of content.

My magazine is called Cool beans! I have chosen this because it’s another way for saying cool, sweet, great, awesome, and amazing. It automatically suggests to the reader that the magazine is going to be really good. Cool beans can also relate back to school, like everything in school is aweome, school in general is cool, or good.

My masthead will look like this Cool beans! The font is Christy.

Its like this because it looks cool and I like the way the capital letters are. Its bold and colourful, I chose this blue because it will attract the target audience, and get their attention. My front cover will have a close up of a boy and a girl standing face to face. One half of the cover will be the girls section the other side will be the boys. It shows how different boys are to girls, and girls are to boys, its also kind of boys vs girls. The models will be standing in front of a white board, and on the white board will be words related to school, eg homework, exams, friend’s etc. The models will have no make up- or very little and natural make up, and they will be wearing school uniform.
